Cryotherapy is the use of Liquid Nitrogen to expose the cells of a lesion to extreme cold (-196 degrees) which destroys the damaged cells and encourages new cells to form producing healthy skin. This extreme cold is used to treat many conditions including sun-damaged skin (Actinic Keratosis), Seborrhoeic Keratosis (Barnacles), Warts and Verrucas, and even some early superficial Skin Cancers. Treatment with Liquid Nitrogen can be painful but most people tolerate it well. Initially, the skin may redden, blister, ulcerate, and form a scab but this will settle after a week or so and the lesion will begin to peel or disappear. Often more than one treatment is required, warts and verrucae are particularly resistant to this treatment and often require surgery to remove them. Skin tags can also be treated with cryotherapy but may take 1-2 weeks to fall off.
The storage and administration of cryotherapy are expensive however, at Panacea Skin Clinic no expense is spared to provide high-quality care for our patients. We treat sun damage (actinic keratosis), seborrhoeic keratosis, warts, verrucae, skin tags, milia, and blackheads. Please be aware that young children do not tolerate this treatment well and will often refuse treatment.** Book a consultation today and take advantage of a 10% discount on the overall cost of your treatment.
